Michael McCarty to Be Honored at 2012 C-CAP Gala February 16 Fundraiser Benefits Disadvantaged Youth in Career through Culinary Arts Program Michael McCarty, founder and proprietor of Michael’s Santa Monica and Michael’s New York, will be honored-for his groundbreaking contributions as “the Godfather of California Cuisine” and his transformative role in New American Cooking-by Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) at its Annual Benefit on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Pier Sixty at New York’s Chelsea Piers. A national not-for-profit, C-CAP dedicates itself to providing education, and career opportunities in the culinary arts for underserved youth, and over the past 20 years has awarded more than $34 million in scholarships. Honorary Chairs for the event are Bette Midler and Martin Von Haselberg. The Chef Chair is Marcus Samuelsson of Red Rooster. Vice-Chairs are Nina and Tim Zagat and Susan and Richard Grausman, and CBS2 News Co-Anchor Maurice DuBois will be master of ceremonies. Guests will enjoy an evening of fabulous food presented by more than 30 of the New York City’s long-time favorite and hottest star chefs, including Samuelsson, Waldy Malouf (Beacon), Tom Colicchio (Colicchio & Sons), Daniel Boulud & Sandro Micheli (Daniel), Alfred Portale (Gotham Bar & Grill), Missy Robbins (A Voce Columbus), and Kyung Up Lim (Michael’s New York). Over 60 New York City C-CAP high school culinary students are scheduled to assist.
